Your iPhone / iPod touch learns to talks UPNP
First pre-alpha release of the Remote Control implementation for the iPod will be available soon. Currently you cannot control any of your devices. The iPod software will only find the available UPNP Devices in your environment. You can display some details on the iPhone.
In future releases you will be able to control your UPNP enabled radios (like the NOXON device). This covers volume control, selection of songs from an available UPNP MediaServer and every functionaltiy covered in the UPNP standard.
It is also planned to extend the iPhone / iPod touch to be a UPNP MediaServer, so every song which is stored on the device can be streamed to an available UPNP MediaRenderer.
The next version after the MediaServer implementation will be the implementation of a MediaRenderer device on the iPhone / iPod touch. In this case the iPod can be used as a streaming client and get multimedia information (like mp3) from an MediaServer which is available in the local network.
After implementing all AV UPNP interfaces, the following step would be to extent the covered functionality to all existing interface descriptions of UPNP.
Stay tuned!
